Handbuilding. For all

For all levels of students with an opportunity to develop to an advanced level.
In this course we will explore colour, pattern and imagery using various techniques of staining and layering slips and porcelains. The decoration will be integral. Laminating sheets of coloured clays inlaid with hand cut patterns, rolling and stretching the layers to create simple shapes formed from flat sheets of clay. Techniques will include, drawing with the knife to create fine inlay, using sheets of clays to create collage, layering, cutting and re combining to create neriage, creating inlay from impressions and painting, stencilling and pouring slips.
Finishing techniques will enhance the pure qualities of the clay. The porcelain will be fired in saggers to prevent warping.
There will be plenty of demonstrations and students will develop their design and technical skills and have the opportunity to experiment freely.

Cost € 860  It includes welcome dinner, lunches, lodging, tuition, materials and firings
