A three days throwing marathon for all those suffering throwing abstinence ! A “non stop round the clock” practise on the wheel with unlimited clay and loads of enthusiasm! Defining techniques, pulling and pushing, altering, cutting and adding. Round pots, oval pots, square pots. Handles, spouts, wings and horns all with plenty of Chianti and sun to keep up your energy.
Cost 390 € Includes tuition, materials, lodging and lunches.
Programme
September 10
Arrival between 10 and 12 am. A pick up at Certaldo train station will be arranged at 11:00 am. Lunch at 12:30 and a full afternoon immersion in clay.

Full day of making.
September 12
Full day of making.
September 13
Finish making by 12:30 pm. Lunch and Farwell. Those who want to leave on Monday morning may add an extra night at a cost of euros 30.
Pietro Elia Maddalena studied ceramics at the West Surrey College of Art & Design in England. After two more years of work at Dartington Workshop, he returned to Italy where in 1980 he established a studio in Certaldo, near Florence. Pietro is the founder and director of the International School of Ceramics LA MERIDIANA located in Tuscany, Italy. Also instructor and maker he says of himself : “ I am totally and continuously interested in the process of making. I see the craft object as a projection of the human spirit and the culture in which it was nurtured. In elaborating concept, material and process, my ultimate goal is the expression of beauty through sophisticated and sensual forms”.
