15 Soda firing in contemporary Ceramics

The workshop is open for advanced or professional potters and ceramic artists who wish to expand their aesthetic and expressive vocabulary and acquire tools and methodologies for the assessment of their work.
During the studio sessions participants will produce thrown or hand built work in stoneware. The chemistry of the soda firing process will be explained and discussed thoroughly, to provide an understanding of the combustion taking place in the soda kiln, increase through the practical experience.
Furthermore there will be exploration of communication via the web to promote work, to find further learning tools and to communicate with the broader ceramic community. The set up of a web-forum dedicated to the contents of the workshop will give participants the opportunity to experiment new ways of communication. Through participants contacts with potter guilds in various countries will be established, to create a transeuropean network on ceramics. The workshop is taught in English.
The project has been granted funding by the European Community and funding covers travel, accommodation, materials and teaching.

Interested learners must fill out the application form by December 31, 2009 and will receive communication about their candidature by January 20th, 2010
