Date: June 18 - 27, 2009
An eight-day taste of Tuscany and studying the life model in clay workshop
A focused, creative and intensive clay workshop for students to gain a good working understanding of the human form. For all students, from the absolute beginner to the more experienced.
Students will be working in clay without an armature, using a fairly groggy handbuilding clay. We will learn about the Basic proportions, anatomy, rhythms and dynamics of the human figure through life drawing, clay sketches, and short studies culminating in a three/four-day pose creating an in-depth observation and exploration of the human form. There will be flexibility for students who wish to move from direct representational interpretation to creating their own expressive or abstracted interpretation of the human form. Over the last two days there is a chance to visit Sienna or Florence or an exciting boat trip along the Cinque Terre on the Mediterranean coast, evening wine tasting and eating out. These optional visits are not included in the course fee.
Cost 1.100 € (Includes tuition, lodging, lunches, materials and firings)
Born in Paris in 1960, Lucianne has travelled widely working and exhibiting in Galleries and sculpture events in Canada, USA, Europe, London, and the south East and West of England. Lucianne works directly with a variety of clays but mostly stoneware. Her work is then either fired or cast into bronze, resin or cement.
What has engaged Lucianne mostly in her work is the human form with all its energy and tensions. She sees the human body as an interface between feelings, emotions, thoughts and the external manifestation of these in the world.
