24 Sculpture and the life model
Instructor: Lucianne Lassalle
Type: Sculpture. For all
Date: June 16 – 26, 2010
A nine-day taste of Tuscany and studying the life model in clay workshop.
This will be a focused, creative and intensive 6 day clay workshop with a life model for students to gain a good working understanding of the human form. The workshop is suitable for all students, from the absolute beginner to the more experienced.
Students will be working in clay without an armature, using a fairly groggy terracotta clay. We will learn about the basic proportions, the rhythms, dynamics and structure of the human form through clay sketches, and short studies culminating in an intense three/four-day study of one pose creating an in-depth observation and exploration of the human form. There will be flexibility for students who wish to move from direct representational interpretation to creating their own expressive or abstracted interpretation of the human form.
Over the last three days as the clay speed dries and is fired, there will be a chance to visit Sienna or Florence or go on an exciting boat trip along the Cinque Terre of the Mediterranean coast. Through out your stay there will also be evening wine tasting visits and eating out. These optional visits are not included in the course fee.
Cost: € 1.160
Includes tuition, materials and firings, lodging and lunches
Born in Paris in 1960, Lucianne has travelled widely working and exhibiting in Galleries and sculpture events in Canada, USA, Europe, London, and the south East and West of England. Lucianne works directly with a variety of clays but mostly stoneware. Her work is then either fired or cast into bronze, resin or cement.
What has engaged Lucianne mostly in her work is the human form with all its energy and tensions. She sees the human body as an interface between feelings, emotions, thoughts and the external manifestation of these in the world.
