Five days dedicated to the creation of fine jewelry in porcelain, a most supple, precious and durable material. The instructor will start the workshop with the viewing of images of jewelry by contemporary artists, encouraging students to a personal interpretation.
He will introduce a variety of making and firing techniques: Non glaze firing, metallic glazes, neriage, graffiti, paper porcelain, glazing at low temperature, third fire, decal. It 'a unique opportunity to learn many different methodologies, to be used also on large objects or sculptures back home.
Some jewelry will be finished according to each students project, students may add elements in hypoallergenic steel, making sculpture-like, precious objects.


Cost: € 880
The workshop fee includes:

  • tuition (class is 6/7 hours per day with 12 hours studio time)
  • materials and firings
  • materials for finishing the jewellery
    (hooks, string, rings)
  • lodging in double room with shared bathroom facilities; single room on request
  • shared cooking facilities
  • welcome dinner
  • welcome breakfast
  • a freshly prepared Tuscan lunch with wine on the working days

La MeridianaLuca Tripaldi was born in Turin in 1969. Graduated on graphic art before working on sculpture and then been taken by ceramics until he opened a workshop in Turin in 1999. He has been particularly interested on the development of smoke firing techniques and fascinated by the qualities of the surfaces that these processes can offer. In recent years he had a strong interest in studying and developing crystals glazes and carbon trapping. He is sharing a studio in London and has been invited to teach at prestigious ceramic schools in the USA.
