36 Raku fired Sculpture with Paperclay
Lorri Acott - www.lorriacottfowler.com
September 1st - 7th, 2013

Sculpture. For all

Participants will study a new way of working with clay, using the work of great artists to inform and inspire their own work. Using paperclay (regular ceramic clay with paper fibers added to it), Lorri teaches skills and techniques that encourage fragile and elongated forms that are often regarded as impossible to make and fire.
After initial instruction on the methods of creating paperclay sculpture we will venture into Florence to be inspired by the Italian masters. The class will culminate in an actual raku firing of our work so that you will leave class with your finished sculpture.
Fun, hands-on and experimental, Lorri will teach you the concepts and techniques and then allow you to "go for it", opening your mind to a new way of creating.

Cost: € 880
The workshop fee includes:

  • tuition (class is 6/7 hours per day with 12 hours studio time)
  • materials and firings
  • lodging in double room; single room on request at extra cost of € 125
  • welcome dinner
  • welcome breakfast
  • a freshly prepared Tuscan lunch with wine on the working days
