Handbuilding and sculpture. For all
Handbuilding forms from Galestro, a Tuscan Terra Cotta clay, perfectly suited for outdoor pieces will be the focus of this class. We will explore various hand building methods to make figurative forms, large bas relief tiles or personal interpretations of open forms for planters.
Techniques included will be slab and coil building and developing skills for bas relief carving and sculpting, versatile ways for both artistic expression and useful projects.
Surrounded by a world of sculpture, flowers, and terra cotta we will be easily inspired to creative ideas.

Donna Polseno made her studies and graduated in 1974 at Rhode Island School of Design. She has received important grants and has been teaching in some of the most well established Schools and Universities of the USA. Her sculptural work is about the female figure and pottery and how they relate to each other symbolically. Since a few years she is regularly in Italy where in 2008 she was one of the six artists at the International Ceramic Sculpture Show “CONCRETA” in Certaldo , Florence.
