April 13th – 19th 2014

Silkscreen print on clay

In this workshop we will create a book in clay, as a support for the screen prints that we will apply on the pages. The book will be made in white, medium fired clay and on the pages we will print text, images and drawings. We will use plaster to make a mould shape for the book and when completed with the pages it will be a way to keep our life in our hands. This is the philosophical part.
On the technical side we will learn to work with images from a normal photo copy machine, and how to create our own silkscreen plates. Through plenty of demonstration Maria will show the process of transferring the images, drawing and texts, with the possibility of superimposing drawing at the next stage of the process.
The work will be single fired in the electrical kiln at 1140 C.
Before the course participants are asked to prepare by making a personal collection of images and texts, all in A5 size, from which to make a selection for transfer to screens.

Cost: € 960

The workshop fee includes the following:
Tuition (class is 6/7  hours per day with 12 hours studio time)
All materials and firings
Lodging in double room; single room on request at extra cost of 140 €
Welcome dinner and welcome breakfast
A freshly prepared full Tuscan lunch with wine on all working days
