SEBATIAN BLACKIE
Born near Cambridge he studied Ceramics at Farnham School of Art and the University of London Goldsmiths College. He has been a committed teacher throughout his career as Principal lecturer at Surrey College of Art for many years and currently as senior lecturer at Derby University. He has lectured and demonstrated in many Art colleges in the UK and Europe and has considerable experience runniNg short courses. It was written that "Sebastian Blackie's voice within ceramics is usually indipendent". His work employs many unusual processes and he is constantly experimenting. It has also been written: "For some potters the making process stops when the pots are placed in the kilns, for Sebastian Blackie the process continues throughout the firing". He invented a kiln made and fired entirely with newspaper which is now taken up by many ceramists worldwide.
