Playwithclay
Project
A project on contemporary art and clay.
Sometimes contemporary art is not perceived as "beautiful", but in addition to aesthetics, art also uses a conceptual language.
Participation
More than 200 participants created clay tiles during Giococoncreta in October 2009 that will become a mural panel to be installed in Certaldo.
Whole families, romantic couples, visitors from around Italy and the world suddenly found themselves captivated by the quality of the material clay, leaving their mark and contributing to a collective work of public art.
The intent of the project is twofold: Provide freedom to experiment and play, and comprehend how a work of art can be understood starting from its inherent conceptual message, which is crucial in much contemporary art. Here the message is about the beauty of cohesive society, where everyone has space to express themselves, but where there is also limitation due to the rules. These rules create a link between all individuals which achieves to enhance the contribution of each member.
The challenge now is to fire and assemble the tiles. Yet another entertainment, creating links between the many traces left by the participants.
